TEXAS -- A Taylor man facing charges of animal cruelty is behind bars on an unrelated charge.
Tuesday night, Taylor police arrested Shane Franklin Hoadley for assault causing bodily injury for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
Police confirm Hoadley is one of the owners of 23 dogs found inside a home located at the 1000 block of Burkett drive.
The dogs were found Monday night, one puppy was found dead inside the home and another died after being taken to a local shelter.
Three of the dogs tested positive for the parvovirus.
Police confirm first responders had to wear HAZMAT gear to rescue the dogs from the home because of deplorable conditions inside.
Police report the ground was covered with feces and a strong foul odor emitting from the home.
Both Hoadley and his girlfriend are facing charges of animal cruelty.
