FLORIDA -- A Palm Beach County man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities discovered a dead dog in his garage on Thursday, reports the SunSentinel.com.
Teron Nairn, 33, was arrested after an investigation into the death of one of his pit bulls earlier in January. The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office had been called to his residence on 4300 block of Violet Circle after a tip about a dog being strangled to death.
Nairn was found in his backyard holding a shovel.
As the deputy entered the property, two pit bulls appeared; one dog appeared fine and the other dog appeared to be in pain and had a serious injury to her eye.
In the garage, underneath a car, the deputy found a dead pit bull. Nairn stated the dog had accidentally choked himself and had been in a fight with the female dog.
The injured dog named Deba had multiple injuries including blunt force trauma, conjunctiva in her eye and bruising on her face. The dead dog named Bolo had external wounds on his neck, and it isn't clear how he died although veterinarians concluded the dogs did not fight with each other and that the injuries were inflicted by Nairn.
Nairn has been charged with animal cruelty and abandonment.
