Southern Oregon man, Cody Daigneault, sentenced for shooting cat with arrow

OREGON -- A judge has sentenced a Phoenix, Oregon, man to probation for shooting a cat with an arrow.

The Mail Tribune newspaper reports that a Jackson County judge warned Cody Daigneault to do everything his probation officer says, or risk going to prison for 18 months.

The 25-year-old Daigneault pleaded guilty to animal abuse. He said after Wednesday's hearing that his neighbor had many nuisance cats that damaged his property. He added that the wounded cat survived.

The terms of probation include owning no pets and possessing no weapons. He also must pay $260.50 in restitution.
