UPDATE: Odessa Police Arrest Woman Accused of Torturing Dog

TEXAS -- Odessa Police are searching for an Odessa woman accused of torturing her dog. They sent out this press release:

"Odessa Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating AraselyVenegas, date of birth 09/20/1982. Venegas is currently wanted for Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals, a State Jail Felony.


On January 13th, 2015, the Odessa Police Department received a report of a dog that was being mistreated and abused in the 3600 block of North Hancock.

Investigation revealed that a female subject had taped a small white dog’s mouth shut with duct tape. The same subject also cut the dog’s ear, causing it to sustain serious bodily injury.

Through the course of the investigation the suspect was fully identified as Arasely Venegas, who voluntarily admitted to investigators that she had a dog and had knowledge of the alleged accusations.

A witness reported to investigators that Venegas was the suspect and that she was torturing the dog.

The witness further advised that Venegas had taped the dog’s legs together, the dog’s mouth shut, and snipped part of the dog’s ear off.

Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, a felony animal cruelty warrant was obtained for Venegas.
