SOUTH CAROLINA -- An Easley couple have been accused of starving a chained dog, authorities said.
Julio Reynerio Flores Blandon, 29, and Brittany Shea Davis, 25, both of 308 Diwa Drive, were charged with ill treatment of animals in general, torture, according to warrants.
Warrants allege the two intentionally refused to feed and put out water for their dog, ultimately leading to the dog's death.
Authorities said the dog, a male pit bull, was kept chained in the backyard. No food was accessible to the animal and had not been for some time, authorities said.
What water was available was frozen in water bowls, according to warrants.
An animal control officer responding to a complaint last week about a dead dog said the animal had been kept on a "very short chain with no food around," deputies wrote in a report.
The dog was found lying on his side, and his bones were visible, the report said. Deputies said a dog house was also found on the property.
Blandon and Davis were each released from the Pickens County Detention Center Feb. 12 on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond, jail records show.
