West Fork man, Micaleb Prather, accused of shooting cat in head with arrow

ARKANSAS -- A northwest Arkansas man has been charged with animal cruelty after he told police he shot a cat in the head with an arrow.

Nineteen-year-old Micaleb Prather of West Fork told police he was shooting arrows at a friend's home when he saw the animal and shot at it.

A woman, who was house-sitting for her neighbors, says she found the cat after hearing it make a noise behind a couch on the porch.

Local media outlets report a veterinarian has removed the arrow from the cat and that it's expected to survive.

It wasn't immediately clear if Prather has an attorney.
