Va. Beach man, James Inman, sentenced in deadly dog attack case

VIRGINIA -- A Virginia Beach man has been found guilty of failing to confine a dangerous dog after his pit bull attacked and killed a Yorkie last year.

James Inman was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all suspended on three years of good behavior.

He was found guilty of having a dog at large, failure to confine a dangerous dog and dangerous dog killing a dog after it was deemed dangerous. The dog was also deemed vicious.

Inman’s pit bull attacked a family pet Yorkie, Cupcake, back in October 2014. The owner said the pit bull jumped into her car while she was bringing in groceries. She says the minute the pit bull laid eyes on Cupcake, it put the Yorkie in its mouth and shook it like a rag doll.

Inman will have to pay a total of $2,750 in fines and will be required to pay restitution to the victim.
He will also have to pay impound fees to the shelter where his pit bull has been kept since the attack.

Since the pit bull was found to be vicious and Inman did not file an appeal, it was humanely euthanized.
