TEXAS -- A four year girl and her mother are hospitalized after being attacked by a Pit- Bull earlier this afternoon.
Lorena police are investigating the incident.
A Lorena woman, whose name has not been released, had taken in the stray Pit Bull and posted about the animal on Facebook.
According to Lorena Police Chief Tom Dickson, the Burleson woman and her daughter arranged to meet the other woman in the Brookshire's parking lot to "adopt" the dog.
Police say while the women were in the middle of their transaction the Pit Bull suddenly became aggressive and bit the four year girl in the face. The dog also bit the girl's mother who rushed to help.
Both victims were taken to Baylor Scott & White at Hillcrest Hospital.
Because the dog is a stray investigators are worried the Pit- Bull could have rabies since it has no medical history. Lorena police are holding the dog until it can be taken to the Waco Humane Society where it can be quarantined and tested.
The condition of the young girl and her mother have not been released.
