LOUISIANA -- A Larose man wanted on animal cruelty charges has been apprehended, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Darby Smith Sr., 43, is scheduled to appear in state District Judge Buddy Larose’s courtroom Friday, sheriff’s spokesman Brennan Matherne said.
Smith is charged with two counts of simple cruelty to animals and two counts in violation of a parish ordinance prohibiting animals from roaming.
Deputies found Smith’s two malnourished dogs Oct. 25, Matherne said. They believe Smith had been away for several weeks, leaving the dogs outside without proper care.
