VERMONT -- Vermont State Police say the owner of two miniature horses kept the animals in a camper on the parking lot of an inn and has been arrested on animal cruelty charges.
Police say 43-year-old Donna Jean Malloy also was arrested on a charge of false information to a police officer.
Police responded Friday afternoon to a report of horses living in a camper at the Ladd Brook Inn on Vermont Route 7 in Pownal. They say an officer found the horses in poor health and the tow-behind camper in "unsatisfactory" conditions.
Police say Malloy surrendered the horses and the animals were taken to an animal rescue operation.
Malloy was released on a citation to appear in court May 25.
A message was left at the inn Saturday for Malloy.
