Lexus Project bullies Nevada into handing over vicious pit bulls... coming to your town soon!

NEVADA -- Three pit bulls that attacked two senior citizens in February have been removed from Clark County.

The dogs were being kept at the Lied Animal Shelter where they were taken after they and a fourth dog attacked a woman and her neighbor.

The removal of the dogs was initiated by the Clark County District Attorney’s office.

“If there was a placement that would take these animals, that would care for them in an appropriate manner, and that we would have some reasonable surety that they would not harm another human being, then it was something that we didn't see any negatives to,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Amy Ferreira.

Jesse Vonstaden, who owned the dogs, acknowledged they caused harm and is taking responsibility.

One of Vonstaden’s neighbors, Robert Sisterman, was severely bitten by one of the pit bulls when they attacked Celia Aguilar while she was working in her garden. He tried to beat back the dogs as they were mauling the woman.

When police arrived, one of the dogs charged at them. An officer killed that dog with a gunshot.

“I can't close my fist all the way,” Sisterman said.

“She was screaming,” Sisterman said. “I was screaming. They were trying to take her sweater off. There was a dog on each arm.

While he swung a bat at the animals, one of the dogs went for his hand.

Aguilar spent several days hospitalized for her injuries.

While he continues healing, the Lexus Project, a New York animal rescue organization, is moving the dogs to a sanctuary out of state. The group is calling the dogs “The Nevada Three.”

The Lexus Project is the same group that saved Onion, a Mastiff mix who killed a baby.

Vonstaden, the owner of the dogs, has entered a guilty plea to a charge of willful disregard. She’s scheduled to be sentenced in July.

General counsel for the Lexus Project, Richard Rosenthal said the dogs were part of a tragic situation.

“It should have never happened. I feel horrible for the people injured, but I’d like to believe that we as a society have progressed past the point of when somebody gets hurt we should kill somebody or we should kill something,” Rosenthal said.
