Owner Of Pit Bull That Bit Local Woman Arrested, Charged

TEXAS -- Nicole Rodriguez, 29, of Copperas Cove, was free on a $8,000 personal recognizance bond Thursday after she was arrested and charged with attack by a dangerous dog stemming from an incident earlier this month in which the tip of the left ring finger of a woman was bitten off by a pit bull Rodriguez owns.

The victim, whose name was not released, was walking her dog on April 4 in the 300 block of Margaret Lee Street when the pit bull attacked her pet, police said.

She was bitten as she attempted to get the pit bull away from her dog, police said.

Copperas Cove Animal Control officers took custody of the pit bull and advised police that it was the second incident involving the same dog.

After the first incident, Rodriguez was issued a Dangerous Animal Administrative Order on March 3, 2014, police said.

The Class C misdemeanor complaint was filed on Wednesday and Rodriguez was arrested. She was released Thursday.
