CANADA -- Gatineau Police say animal control has seized two dogs after a 75-year-old man and his 26-year-old neighbor were attacked Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the elderly man was working in his yard around 12:30 p.m. when he was attacked by a Labrador and a pit bull-type dog.
The neighbour came to his aid and was also bitten.
Police say the dogs ran away by the time they got there, but officers were able to track them down and find their owner.
The man is facing fines for the dogs being on the loose, for the dogs having bitten the victims and because one of the animals was not wearing a muzzle. Each fine is worth $148 and police say the owner may be facing additional charges.
Police say the dogs escaped from the yard without the owner's knowledge.
The victims remain in hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries.
It's not yet clear whether the dogs will be put down.
