Florida woman, Adelle Cochrane, faces 10 years in jail for stabbing Yorkshire terrier

FLORIDA -- WINK news reported that a woman from Lee County, Florida, arrested last month, is now facing up to 10 years in jail for causing pain and suffering to a Yorkshire Terrier.

Adelle Shanise Cochrane, a transient, according to police records, claimed she didn't remember stabbing the dog and leaving him to suffer for hours. When she awoke from her stupor, she brought the dog to Specialized Veterinary Services.

The tiny animal was barely alive. He was covered in dried blood, which tipped off the police that he had been in pain the entire time that Ms. Cochrane claims she had been lying there, "blacked out."

When asked why she stabbed him in the first place, initial reports said she was angry and lost control and just can't remember anything else.

She said, "I did not mean to stab him.”

It's obvious that you cannot accidentally stab an animal multiple times.

After confronting her, she changed her story, saying the dog bit her, so she stabbed him a few times. Cochrane is charged with two counts of animal cruelty, even though she brought him to the vet.

The Yorkie is doing much better; no one expected him to make it through the night when he first was brought to the clinic. Animal services will be looking for a home for him shortly.

Lee County Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Schall says, “There is no excuse in the world you could use for treating a dog like this." Most of us would thoroughly agree with that statement.
