Pennsylvania: Cat hoarder caught again after bringing in a dozen dead cats to be cremated

PENNSYLVANIA -- Cats — and lots of them — were removed from a home in Brookline.

Authorities were called to the Brookline home Friday where a woman was living in deplorable conditions with more than 10 cats.

It all started when Animal Friends got a tip from a veterinarian about a woman who brought in a dozen cats to be cremated.

That’s when they found out her identity and that the woman was no stranger to local humane officials.

In fact, Animal Friends had been working with the woman to help give the cats proper care. But when they went back to the house on Almond Street in Brookline, they saw the condition of the cats and how they were living and decided they had to be removed.

“We are able to trap and bring here 10 cats … from very deplorable conditions,” said Shannon Tremblay with Animal Friends. “It was a hoarding case in Brookline and the cats are just covered in fleas, they’re dirty, terrified. It just — getting medical attention that they need at this point.”

A dozen cats were also previously pulled from the house in 2012.

There were more cats in the house that weren’t removed Friday.

Officials say the woman will be cited for animal cruelty Monday.
