MCSO: 100 animals found at Wittmann home of convicted animal abuser, Colleen Jolley

ARIZONA -- Officials are investigating an animal cruelty case at a puppy mill in Wittmann.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office seized over 100 animals, mostly puppies, at a house in the 21000 block of West Laura Street on Wednesday morning.

The dogs on the property include English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Maltese, Labradoodles and other breeds.

Officials served the search warrant at the home after responding to a tip about horrendous breeding conditions. The puppies were found being raised in wooden boxes in the backyard.

Inside the house was animal feces and urine on the floor. MCSO said many of the dogs were living in their own waste.

A 3-year-old child was living in the home at the time, the child has been removed from the house, MCSO said.

The homeowner, 59-year-old Colleen Jolley, is facing child neglect charges and animal cruelty charges.

MCSO said Jolley has a history of animal abuse, including a conviction in Oregon in 1994.

"Unfortunately this breeder, because she is more interested in money, refuses to sign over the dogs, where they would be quickly adopted into homes where they would be loved and cared for, instead of returned to deplorable conditions like this," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.

Two horses, several turtles and a bird was also found on property.

All of the animals will be housed in the MCSO MASH Unit where female inmates will care for the animals until the case is completed.
