Neighbors rescue dog stuck in mud for three days

PENNSYLVANIA -- A dog is being nursed back to health after being stuck in a Somerset County creek for at least two days.

Tilly the St. Bernard was rescued safely Monday after being stuck in mud up to her head for two to three days.

It happened along Chickentown Road in Somerset Township.

A neighbor told 6 News he and his wife heard the dog barking for days, but couldn’t find her until Monday when they walked down to the nearby creek.

“I had to dig some muck out to get its legs loose and get a leash underneath it and a neighbor and I were able to eventually pull him out of the mud and get him up on the bank,” neighbor Randy Welker said.

Responders say Tilly is doing OK. They her busy cleaning her up and giving her food and water.

Her owner was also there Monday. We’re told the dog left her house that’s just up the hill a few days ago.
