Tipton Co. family says vicious dogs terrorized neighborhood and killed their pet donkey

TENNESSEE -- A Mid-South family was in shock after their pet donkey was mauled and killed by vicious dogs.

The family said the dogs threatened them and terrorized neighbors.

Now, they want to make sure the dogs’ owner was held accountable so  this doesn’t happen again.

“My husband named [the donkeys] after me and him,” said Diana Pullen. “The girl was Diana. They boy was Petey.”

The Pullens had the donkeys for nearly a decade.

They stayed in a fenced in area in their backyard on Owen Road close to Munford in Tipton County.
A few days ago, the unthinkable happened.

“[My husband] turns around and hears a black dog coming towards him,” said Pullen.

Pullen said a black dog and a pit-bull mix charged him almost biting his leg.

He scared them off, but the dogs came back later that afternoon and killed all of their chickens and attacked their donkey.

“They tore [the donkey] up: her neck, her ears, both eyes and brains,” said Pullen.

She said her husband was outraged and terrified.

He shot and killed the black dog, but the pit bull got away and started chasing their neighbor, who called animal control.

They came out and finally caught the dog.

Deputies took a report when it happened last Wednesday.

They told Pullen they may file neglect charges when they find the owner, but she’s yet to get any updates.

Meanwhile, a vet had to put her donkey down Sunday night, “because of all the wounds. I am upset because that could have been a child.”

Pullen said the dogs were vicious and roaming free in her neighborhood where kids play.

She wanted deputies to take this incident seriously and make sure the owner was held accountable before something worse happens.

“It could have been a child or man. Doesn’t matter what age,” she said.

WREG called animal control to see if the owner picked the dog up, but we’ve yet to hear back.
Deputies said they would give us an update soon.
