UTAH -- The Syracuse Police Department wants to know who killed Lady Antebellum.
She is a $10,000 thoroughbred broodmare horse who was found shot in a field Thursday afternoon.
It happened in the area of 2600 West and 2850 South.
Lady Antebellum was a horse children took too.
"These horses back here are the ones she ran with all the time. We watched her everyday. The kids would come out and feed her grass. It is a shame to see her down like that," said neighbor Michael Shaffer.
Lady Antebellum was found dead around 5 p.m. Thursday with a shot to the heart.
"There was in an injury to the shoulder with an x type pattern to it," said Davis County Sheriff Office Animal Control Officer Tracy Roddom.
Investigators believe the horse was killed with a bow and arrow or a rifle.
Lady A's trainer Kari Swainston from Saltaire Farm says the killer knew what they were doing.
"Whoever did this knew where to aim and knew the kill zone," Swainston says. "The next thing that could come up is, people are going to get it. And I just think that if you can have such little regard for a life, you are not short of taking human life."
Neighbors now have their scopes on protecting the rest of the animals in Syracuse.
"It is something we don’t like to tolerate around here. That’s for sure," Shaffer adds.
Good 4 Utah contacted Lady A's owner Ken Beaumont who was working in Texas at the time. He say's he didn't have insurance on his pride and joy and his family is heartbroken over the tragedy.
Good 4 Utah's Jason Nguyen contacted the Utah Humane Society about the animal cruelty case. A $3,000 reward has been offered leading to the arrest of the person who killed Lady Antebellum.
If you have any information on this shooting contact the Syracuse Police Department at 801.825.4400 or Davis County Sheriffs Office Animal Services at 804.444.2200.
