Kennewick PD Kills Pit Bull After It Attacks Boy

WASHINGTON -- Kennewick Police officers shot and killed a pit bull near Volland Street Saturday morning.

A 14-year-old boy's mother told police her son was attacked by the dog while walking down the road near the 900 Block of South Volland Street are 9:45 a.m. He was not bit during the attack but is suffering from minor scratches on his back and elbow.

Officers tried to catch the dog with an animal control officer in a backyard near 9th Avenue and Volland, but police say it was aggressive and charged toward them.

Right now, officers are trying to find out if the dog was registered in the city and if the owners complied with breed regulations.
