Close to two dozen animals found dead in Charleston home belonging to Mary Vores

WEST VIRGINIA -- Kanawha-Charleston humane officers are investigating an alleged animal hoarding situation after close to two dozen animals were found dead inside a home on Charleston's west side.

Humane officers and law enforcement at the scene said 22 dead animals and two live animals were found Wednesday at a home in the 800 block of Beech Avenue.

They said the two live animals were taken to the shelter, but are not expected to make it.

The home is down the street from a residence where just less than two months ago, nearly two dozen cats were seized.

Officers described the scene as an episode of the television show hoarders. They said the majority of the animals were cats, with one dog and a few rodents.
