Witnesses described seeing a dog with "blood around its mouth" after officers were called to reports of two "dangerously out of control" animals in Stoke Newington.
The animal had earlier bitten a woman in the Osbaldeston Road in an apparently random attack.
Charlotte Leigh, who lives in Cazenove Road near to where the incident happened, said: "I heard shouting [and] looked out of my lounge window and police had a dog on the floor.
"They then tasered it and put it into a wheelie bin they got from the house it was happening outside of."
Looks like a Shar Pei in the face... maybe |
"They then cordoned the street off and put the wheelie bin in the back of a police van".
She added that the tasered animal was a "large dog" which could have been a type of Alsatian (aka German Shepherd type).
Another witness, Ben Stewart, reported hearing a police officer say through his radio: "I've tasered the dog! I've trapped it in the bin!"
A Metropolitan Police spokesman: "Shortly before 2pm we were called to reports of two dogs dangerously out of control in Osbaldeston Road.
"One female member of the public received a bite to the back of the leg.
"Our officers have attended and both dogs were contained and will be taken to kennels. One of the dogs was tasered.
"Efforts are now underway to trace the owner of the animals."
