ALABAMA --The former director of a north Alabama animal shelter has surrendered to authorities on charges of cruelty.
Multiple media outlets report that former director of the Animal Rescue Shelter of Lawrence County Bobbie Taylor surrendered at the county jail Thursday and is free on $17,000 bond.
The Moulton Police Department started investigating reports of animal cruelty at the site after a former worker showed photos and video of the facility to police and published footage online.
Taylor has said she did nothing wrong and that many of the animals were ill before they arrived.
The ASPCA removed animals from the shelter after the facility's conditions were reported.
