Four cats cooked to death inside vehicle after Animal Control officer 'forgets' about them

TEXAS -- A Big Spring Animal Control Officer has resigned after several cats were left inside an Animal Control vehicle.

The Big Spring Police Department tells NewsWest 9, Michael Arista resigned on Monday.

As you may recall, an officer found the cats in the parked vehicle at the Law Enforcement Center on June 20.

According to the report, the officer contacted his supervisor and Animal Control were called out.

Officials say numerous cats were found within the unattended vehicle and four of the cats were found dead.

Arista said that many of the cats were sick and "probably would've been euthanized anyway."

Well, isn't that nice. Maybe we should put people in hot vehicles and let them cook to death if they're dying of cancer. After all, they'll probably die anyway. /sarcasm

We're told the case has been submitted to the County Attorney's Office for prosecution purposes.
