Reward increased to $17,000 for information on beheaded and skinned dogs

TENNESSEE -- One week ago, a local woman cried after making the grisly discovery of two dogs that had been decapitated and skinned along a country road in West Knox County, Tennessee. The dogs were found near Jenkens Lane and Canton Hollow Road by a nearby resident; their bodies had been stuffed in plastic garbage bags.

On Wednesday, an animal advocate increased an already swelling reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person (s) responsible for this heinous act of animal cruelty in West Knox County to $17,000, reports the KnoxNews.

PETA Senior Director Colleen O’Brien is asking anyone with information to come forward before someone else is hurt:

“Anyone heartless enough to beat, burn and kill these animals has a shocking and dangerous disregard for others’ suffering and may be a real and present danger to the entire community, human and not."

Although the results of the necropsy on the dogs have not been made public, both dogs were medium sized and weighed between 20 to 25 pounds. Their heads and fur were missing; one witness could see one of the dog's had a broken leg.

Anyone missing a dog about the size of the two mutilated canines or has information about this egregious crime is asked to call the Knox County Sheriff's department at 865-215-2243. Help bring justice for these innocent victims.
