Cat owner’s fury at dog attack caught on video

UNITED KINGDOM -- THE devastated owner of a cat mauled to death by two dogs has spoken of her horror at CCTV footage of the incident.

Police were looking into the attack under the Dangerous Dogs act but the inquiry has since been dropped with “no recordable offences” found.

However the RSPCA say they have launched their own investigation.

The CCTV, caught by Heaven v Hell Fitness’ cameras in Pemberton on Monday night, shows the owners of the two dogs walk up behind their pets, which were off the lead, and walk away without checking on the savaged feline.

 

One of the men has offered up an explanation to their actions, claiming the pair didn’t see the cat.

A number of other people who have recognised one of the dogs have said that this is not the first time it has attacked a cat but this is something the owner has denied.

All three animals disappeared off screen in the fracas with gym’s owner Daniel Ryder saying that he recovered the pet’s savaged and lifeless body 15 minutes later.

The cat’s devastated owner, Hannah Litherland, today spoke of her anguish at losing her pet, who was called Timmy-Cat, and also her anger at the circumstances.

“We are absolutely devastated this has happened,” said Hannah, who owned the cat with fiancé Joe.
“When you live on a new estate like we do, you don’t expect things like this to happen.

“It’s heart-breaking for me because it was my cat but it would be much worse if this had happened to a child which could have been the case with a nursery nearby.

“My fiancé has been to the gym and spoken to Daniel and Gary (Sykes) and we just can’t speak highly enough about them and what they have done.”

Asked what she thinks about the explanation that the two dog owners didn’t see her cat after the attack, Hannah added: “I don’t buy it for one second.”

An RSPCA spokesman said: “This must be very distressing and upsetting for the cat’s owner. We are working closely with police in regards to this issue and we have launched an investigation in to the matter.
