Anderson was sentenced to two years’ probation for drowning that puppy, according to an Associated Press report carried by Fox News.
The incident took place on January 23 at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport where officials wouldn’t allow her on a flight with the young Doberman pup because the animal was not properly contained. Fox also reported that another reason attendees wouldn’t allow her to board the plane was because the puppy was just too young.
The Daytona Beach News Journal reported that Anderson had been barred from entering the flight area by a TSA agent earlier that same day when she tried going through security with the puppy and two Yorkie puppies in her travel bag. She had two additional adult Yorkies in crates. Her parents came to the airport and retrieved the Yorkies, but not the Doberman pup.
Officials stated that after being turned away a second time trying to get to her plane with the puppy, she was seen entering a bathroom at the airport. Soon after Anderson left the bathroom, a woman at the airport reported finding the dead pup in one of the toilets.
The authorities arrested Anderson at the airport on a totally different charge, that of “violating pretrial release conditions on a felony grand theft charge out of Port Orange from November 2014,” according to the Journal.
At her court hearing yesterday, Anderson told the judge she was sorry for her actions. She also begged for mercy in her sentencing and pleaded for probation, which she received.
