FLORIDA -- An Interlachen woman has been charged, through a complaint affidavit sent to the State's Attorney's Office, with the cruel suffering of animals after she evidently left six dogs, unattended, inside cages in a vacant home in Interlachen. Fifty five years old Lorie Elizabeth Robertson is being charged with one count of aggravated animal cruelty.
This investigation began Saturday afternoon (08/22/15) when Canine Deputy Nicholas Vieira received a call of caged animals, in deplorable condition, inside a vacant home in Interlachen. The call was received from the home owner, Kassandra Guillot, 29, of Cankton, Louisiana, who owns the Interlachen residence.
Upon arriving at the home at 131 Deer Run Road, Deputy Nicholas found six dogs inside cages, covered in feces and without food. In addition, only three of the animals had minimal water.
Deputy Vieira's investigation revealed that Guillot had left her four dogs in the care of Lorie Robertson, Guillot's mother, whom Guillot let live in her house in order to take care of the animals.
After a five month absence, Guillot reportedly returned to the home to collect her belongings, and found the house vacant, her four dogs gone, and six other caged dogs living in squalor.
Deputy Vieira was able to determine from a neighbor that Guillot's four dogs had been given away to unknown persons. Deputy Vieira also notified Animal Control who responded and took possession of the caged and emaciated dogs.
Deputy Vieira was able to make contact with Lorie Robertson by telephone, but she refused to tell him her location or to meet him at the Interlachen residence.
Robertson also refused to tell Deputy Vieira where the caged animals came from. Deputy Vieira has filed the complaint affidavit seeking an arrest warrant for Lori Robertson.
