TENNESSEE -- Two remain behind bars in Jackson County for aggravated animal cruelty charges.
Both Charles and Rhonda Baxter face six counts of that charge.
Sheriff Marty Hinson says on August 3rd a deputy went to the couple’s home in the Indian Creek area and observed several dogs in poor condition and one even dead from apparent neglect.
Authorities have taken the dogs to a safe location where the adoption process has started.
The Baxters will appear in court at a later date.
