Ronald Delvecchio allegedly stabbed his cat because it threw up on his bed

FLORIDA -- Sarasota Sheriff's deputies arrested a man for cruelty to animals after someone called animal services to report he stabbed his cat.

Ronald Delvecchio told the animal services deputy he threw a knife at Willow when she threw up on his bed. He said the cat ran off with the knife still stuck in her side but came home a couple days later.

Delvecchio told the deputy the cat was ok because the knife "only stuck her a little bit" and had already healed.

The deputy examined Willow and saw that there was a one-inch laceration near her shoulder that had not healed. Delvecchio admitted he had not sought treatment for Willow and that he shouldn't have thrown the knife at her. He said he was mad and had been drinking all day.

Delvecchio was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

He relinquished ownership of Willow to animal services and she is currently under veterinary care. It has not yet been determined whether animal services will put Willow up for adoption or if another shelter will take her and coordinate that process.
