Warrant issued for Cartersville man, Tony Michael Loyal, who abandoned his dog chained up outside

GEORGIA -- Police are looking for a former Cartersville man who abandoned his dog when he left his Douglas Street home.

According to Cartersville Police Department reports:

A warrant for animal cruelty has been issued for Tony Michael Loyal, formerly of 507 Douglas St., after officers went to the residence Tuesday afternoon in response to an abandoned dog.

The animal was found chained in the back yard, very dirty and emaciated, with fluid coming from its eyes. There was no food or water and one ear appeared to be infected. Police gave the dog some water, but it was not strong enough to stand when it drank.

The dog was taken to Bartow Animal Hospital, where it had to be euthanized.

An animal control officer said he spoke with Loyal in February about the dog’s living conditions and, at that time, the dog appeared to be healthy and fully developed.
