Abdel Mahmoud charged with animal cruelty after dragging dog from truck

TENNESSEE --  A man has been arrested after he lied to police about his dog’s injuries, then admitted he didn’t intend to seek medical attention for the dog.

Abdel Mahmoud was driving on Nashville Pike on July 23 with two dogs tied down in the bed of his truck.

One of them, a white Pyrenees, jumped from the truck while it was moving. The dog was then dragged from the truck a short distance.

Mahmoud reportedly told police the dog had no injuries.

Hendersonville Animal Control picked up the dogs and found the Pyrenees had suffered serious injuries.

Mahmoud never attempted to provide the dog with medical care and never indicated that he had a desire or intention to provide medical care to the canine.
