Rhode Island - Brian Kenney arrested for animal cruelty after abandoning skeletal dog in PetSmart parking lot

RHODE ISLAND -- North Providence police arrested a man Wednesday in connection with an animal cruelty case.

Joe Warzycha with the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said suspect Brian Kenney went to the North Providence Police Department Wednesday for questioning and officers took him into custody after that.

RIP Moses
The arrest is in connection to Moses – a dog abandoned in Johnston last month.

Moses was brought to the RISPCA in East Providence Monday in critical condition due to severe malnutrition. Employees cared for him to the best of their ability, and ran a series of tests to see if he had organ disease.

They said his condition was too severe and the decision was made to euthanize the dog.

The RISPCA said Moses was abandoned on or around August 7 in the parking lot of PetSmart on Atwood Avenue.

  1. His wife Ann marie is a former dog groomer. How did she sit by and watch him starve his dog?

    1. That's horrible to hear. It's one thing if someone is very elderly (and maybe not aware of the neglect), but for someone who KNOWS BETTER, it's even worse. I hope the DA's office takes that into consideration!

  2. I can't stand the thought of how much pain and suffering Moses endured. My heart aches.
