Charlotte D'Amico charged with animal cruelty after dead puppy found

CONNECTICUT -- Police say a Connecticut woman was arrested after they found a dead puppy and four other animals living in poor conditions.

Shelton police served 31-year-old Charlotte D'Amico an arrest warrant last week. Animal Control received a complaint earlier this year about the welfare of the animals at a Soundview Avenue home.

Police say authorities found two dogs and two cats in unsanitary conditions without adequate water, heat, or food along with the dead puppy.

Police say the Ansonia woman used to live at the house and was responsible for the animals.
The animals were signed over to a shelter.

D'Amico is charged with five counts of animal cruelty. She was released on $2,500 bond and is due in court Sept. 11. It's not clear if she has an attorney.
