TEXAS -- A custodian will be honored during a special ceremony after saving a kindergartener and her mother from a dog attack.
Mom Alicia can’t thank Michael Fierro enough for taking on a massive dog when it started rushing toward her five-year-old daughter. The two were walking into a Texas elementary school.
Fierro, the new custodian and crossing guard at the school, ran over to help.
He suffered bites to his arm and chest and a broken arm.
Fierro met up with the mother and daughter for the first time since the attack earlier this week.
“I remember her being small. But when I saw her right now and realized how small she was, and what could have happened, that didn’t happen. Thank God,” said Fierro.
Fierro kept the dog from biting anyone else until back-up arrived. He says he’s glad no one else was hurt.
