Dog Recovering After Being Stabbed Repeatedly in Santa Paula; Police Seek Attacker

CALIFORNIA -- Police on Saturday asked for the public’s help in identifying the person who repeatedly stabbed and wounded a family’s dog in Santa Paula.

The “heinous” attack occurred about 5 p.m. Friday in the area of 14th and Saticoy streets, according to a statement from the Santa Paula Police Department.

The black American Staffordshire terrier, named T-Rex, was stabbed five times outside his owner’s home after he and another dog were possibly let out of the backyard by the assailant, police said.

Hmm, it could very well be that the owner failed to contain his dogs and they got out of the fence, tried to attack this unnamed person, and this dog was stabbed as the person was trying to defend him/herself.

After the attack, several neighbors rushed the injured animal to the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center for medical attention.

“The second dog was found uninjured by the fence of her residence and shaking after the incident,” the statement said.

Employees at the animal shelter provided emergency treatment to T-Rex before he was transported to a veterinary clinic in Ventura.

He was in good condition and appeared to have a good prognosis, according to police.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Santa Paula Police Department at 805-525-4474, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
