Gaetana Stamos was arrested after authorities removed 22 Shih Tzu dogs from an Endwell home. The pets were discovered in unsanitary conditions, covered in feces and living without food or water.
One had to be euthanized.
Stamos is in the midst of a court-ordered pre-sentencing investigation that could take months.
Meanwhile two of the Shih Tzu dogs were pregnant at the time they were removed. Both gave birth to five puppies each. The humane society says all 21 surviving dogs and the ten puppies have all been adopted.
"People need to be aware of their neighbors and their neighborhoods, if something looks a little bit off. It doesn't hurt to call and report things for us to look into. Many times we look into cases and it's nothing. It's a misunderstanding. Sometimes it's an arguing match between neighbors. It's better to be safe than sorry," said Humane Society of Broome County Executive Director Karen Matson.
Matson stresses that the Humane Society still has a number of dogs and cats who would make great pets still available for adoption.

This woman did the same thing here in The Bronx. 2250 Haviland Ave. BRONX, NY 10462. Many dogs and cats found died in apt. She was the landlord of the building. Don't understand why she wasn't arrested then.
