TENNESSEE -- The Chester County Sheriff's Office served a warrant this afternoon in Reagan and seized four horses as part of an animal cruelty investigation.
The warrant was served at 215 Benson Road.
Lori Collins, of Redemption Road Rescue, based in Madison County, said the rescue group received reports of unhealthy horses on David and Debra Wilday's property. Collins said the horses were living in "terrible" conditions.
David Wilday said he believes the horses were sick and that caused them to stop eating well and lose weight.
Deputies from the Chester County Sheriff's Office served a warrant Wednesday and found the horses in a barn on the back of the property.
Collins said the horses were in more than two feet of feces and appeared to have spent their lives in the barn.
The horses were taken to a quarantine area by the rescue organization to recover while veterinarians do tests and blood work to check the horses for illnesses, Collins said.
David Wilday and his wife Debra Wilday are each charged with cruelty to animals, according to Chester County Deputy Chief Mark Griffin
