Gunnar Carlson, who tries to dump pit bulls on soldiers with PTSD, charged with animal cruelty

RHODE ISLAND -- A Warwick man accused of keeping dogs in deplorable conditions was arrested Tuesday.

Gunnar Carlson faces 10 counts of unnecessary cruelty and 10 counts of mistreatment of animals.

Investigators removed the pit bulls from the man's Van Buren Street property last week.

An Internet search shows Gunnar is active in the local pit bull community and that he manages a fundraising site for a group called Pit Bulls for PTSD.

From Carlson's GoFundMe page in which he's garnered more than $700 in donations already:
Pit Bulls for PTSD is looking for donations to help pay for expenses incurred from caring for and training pit bulls to become service dogs for people suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Pit Bulls are being put to sleep every day because of their reputation as being a fighting dog, but Pit Bulls are great pets, very smart, and excellent service dogs, if trained properly.

If you would like to help save Pit Bulls from being put to sleep, and give them a chance at a healthy, happy, and productive life that can help someone dealing with PTSD in a positive way by becoming a service dog, please consider donating today. Any amount can help out greatly and make a difference!

Pit Bulls for PTSD is committed to saving Pit Bulls and helping people with PTSD. All we need is a little help to make a bigger impact and save more Pit Bulls from being needlessly destroyed.

We appreciate any amount that you can donate to help this great cause!
