Kentucky: Karleen Gleffe, 53, Charged With Animal Cruelty

KENTUCKY -- A Mount Sterling woman is facing animal cruelty charges after officials say she abandoned four dogs on a vacant property in Clark County.

According to court documents, officials began investigating the incident on August 8, when a neighbor reported a dog that appeared to be malnourished wandering on their property on L&E Junction Road in Winchester.

Neighbors told the deputy the dog wandered from the home Karleen Gleffe, 53, used to live in. They say the home has been vacant for years.

Officials say they found three other dogs, all emaciated, on the property. The animals were left on chains with no food or water in sight.

Neighbors told police they saw Gleffe earlier in the day on the property and after she left they could hear the dogs barking.

Officials say the dogs were taken to the Clark County Animal Shelter. Gleffe is charged with second degree animal cruelty.
