Missouri: Pit bull attack on Golden Retriever caught on camera

MISSOURI -- A North Springfield man was walking his dog, a golden retriever named Georgia, when a pit bull that wasn't muzzled ran up and attacked Georgia.

The pit bull ran up and bit Georgia on the throat and it took Mike as well as the owner of the pit bull and his son a few minutes to pull the dogs apart.

The whole act was caught on a neighbor's security camera video. It happened around 7 o'clock Saturday night in the 2700 block of North Broadway Avenue.

The pit bull belongs to a friend of the homeowner who rents a house on North Broadway Avenue.

Mike says Georgia is doing much better but the whole experience was very traumatic for both him and his dog.

"We were both really shocked, in shock; just shaking and didn't get much sleep that night but we still walk up the street I just walk on the other side of the street," says Howell.

The owner of the pit bull was at the house trying to find homes for his dog's puppies.

Having the puppies in Springfield City Limits and not having the mother pit bull muzzled in the city limits are both violations of the city's pit bull ordinance.
