ARKANSAS -- A woman was arrested on a cruelty to animals warrant Saturday (Aug. 29) that was issued more than two years ago, according to an incident report.
Ruth Reyes-Ramirez, 49, was arrested on a warrant that was issued in April 2013 after neighbors called the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to report Ramirez had abandoned three dogs and moved, the incident report states.
Ramirez had moved out Feb. 3, 2013 and told neighbors she would pick up the animals the next day, but that did not happen, so neighbors called the sheriff’s office on Feb. 7, 2013 to notify them about the abandoned dogs, according to the incident report. A neighbor told deputies, the dogs had killed some of her lambs for food, the incident report states.
When a deputy’s calls to Ramirez went unanswered, authorities seized a Great Pyrenees, a terrier-mix and a Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie-mix and took them to the Washington County Animal Shelter on Feb. 9, 2013, according to the incident report.
Ramirez was booked and released on Aug. 29, 2015 on $1,560 bond and is facing misdemeanor cruelty to animals charges, jail records show.
