OHIO -- After 9-year-old Caleigh Blower was hospitalized when she was attacked by a pit bull, the Village of New Boston wants answers.
"Nine years old, I mean she has her whole life ahead of her and what does she have to look forward to? Nightmares?" said New Boston resident Terry Taylor.
Taylor has three dogs of his own, but he is in outrage after hearing about the attack.
"If a pit bull were to attack my kids -- the game warden, the dog warden, whatever -- wouldn't have to come and get that dog. I would shoot it," Taylor said.
The Village of New Boston is questioning the dog's owner, Barbara Amburgey, as she has been ordered to appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 16 on charges of not securing a dangerous dog and allowing the dog to run loose without a leash.
13 News reached out to speak with Amburgey on Sept. 15, but were told she was not home.
City Administrator Steve Hamilton said he is going to do whatever it takes to make sure a situation like this never happens again.
"We are going to start looking real close to make sure that all the dogs have dog tags and make sure they are all licensed through the county," said Hamilton.
Hamilton said getting all vicious dogs out of New Boston is one of his top priorities.
"It goes from anywhere from a chihuahua to a German shepherd -- any type of dog can be a dangerous dog, a vicious dog," Hamilton said.
