Kelley Crow and Roy Crow arrested after deputies find 24 dead dogs

TEXAS -- Bowie County deputies have arrested two people after finding 24 dead dogs at a shop in Maud, Texas.

Officials say that on Tuesday, Bowie County Deputies Russell Crawford and Lieutenant George Huggins were dispatched to check on the welfare of dogs at a building in the 1600 block of County Road 1116.

When they arrived, they found 14 dead dogs and one living dog in kennels attached to a shop building. Huggins found property co-owner Kelley Crow, who gave him permission to look inside the shop. There, the deputies found 10 additional dead dogs.

The sheriff's office says no food or water was found in any of the kennels. Lieutenant David Childers was called to the scene to take custody of the surviving dog for transportation to a veterinarian for treatment.

Arrest warrants were obtained for property owners Roy and Kelley Crow. On Wednesday, both turned themselves in at the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office and were arrested for an outstanding warrant for cruelty to non-livestock Animals.

Judge Nancy Talley recommended their bonds be set at $25,000 each.
