Man shoots two pit bulls after they attack his Boston Terrier

FLORIDA -- One dog is dead and two dogs were injured Friday morning when a man shot them after they began fighting with ATTACKING his dog, according to Rockledge police.

The Rockledge Police Department said it received a 911 call at 6:25 a.m. from an area in the 900 block of Sangria Circle about shots being fired.

 

Police said the man was in his front yard with his dog when he began talking with his neighbor, who was walking her two pit bulls down the street.


The dogs began fighting attacking the small dog and the man was unable to pull them apart, so he pulled out his gun and shot the pit bulls, according to police.

Police said one dog suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The other two dogs suffered injuries and were taken for veterinary care by their owners.


The man was a licensed open-carry permit holder, police said. Both pet owners cooperated with the investigation.

Animal Services is investigating whether any types of violations happened.

Police said they are discussing the case with the state attorney's office.
