Brooklyn pit bulls attack passerby for second time, leave dog badly wounded

MICHIGAN -- Stay away from this Brooklyn home.

A small, orange mutt named Cash Money was viciously attacked by a pit bull behind a white fence, severely injuring his eye and face Dec. 10.

The assault was the second time that Kwame Murray’s fierce brood viciously attacked someone who dared step foot near the red home at 155 Winthrop St.

In 2010, a Chinese restaurant owner was badly injured after three pit bulls savagely ripped at his body as he passed out menus.

One of the pit bulls, Joe, died of an apparent heart attack after the incident.

Murray, 43, maintains his dogs have done nothing wrong.

The construction worker blamed deliveryman Xiu Ming Li for walking up to the driveway instead of the front gate mailbox.

And he accused Cash Money’s owner, Holly Meyer, of letting her canine walk off its leash.

“Her dog stuck its head in my fence,” Murray told the Daily News in front of his home Thursday, pointing to a gap in the closure.

But Cash Money’s minder says her dog was on a chain metal leash — and says Murray’s pit bull Solo tried to kill her pooch.

“He was trying to pull my dog into the gate,” Meyer said of the near fatal attack at 10 p.m.
“He was snapping my dog’s head like a shark,” she said.

The 10-year old mutt was badly injured. He lost his right eye, fractured his jaw, and doctors had to remove some gum tissue.

“The vet bills are going to be over $4,000,” Meyer said.

She claimed Murray didn’t seem to care after the bloody brawl.

“I was on the ground crying,” she said. “(He) didn’t say anything to me. Other neighbors gathered around. Someone brought a towel.”

Murray said Meyer should have been more careful, noting he has three “Beware of dog!” signs on his property. He owns two other pit bulls, Midnight and Maxi Drizzle.

But he did express some empathy for Cash Money.

“I feel mad sorry for her dog,” he added.

After the attack, Meyer hailed a passing police car from the 71st Precinct. The officers drove her and Cash Money to a nearby vet, who has already operated twice on the former rescue dog.

But the cops said there was nothing else they could do because the attack occurred on private property, Meyer said.

Her only option is to file a civil suit against Murray, the officers explained.

But that’s not enough for the miffed dog mom and her recuperating mutt.

“More needs to be done to keep the community safe,” she said. “The dog is a threat to the community. There’s a preschool across the street. This could easily happen to a kid.”
