TENNESSEE -- Two people in Jefferson City face child neglect and animal cruelty charges after police found children and numerous animals living in what officers say were unfit conditions.
Mickey L. Butterworth, 41, and Heather L. Fowler, 29, were each charged with three counts of child neglect and 22 counts of animal cruelty.
The Jefferson City Police Department says they were called to a home on W. Cates Street Tuesday afternoon for a welfare check. An officer found feces and urine on the floor, along with multiple animals running around.
The officer decided the conditions were unfit. Three children ages 6, 8 and 10 were removed from the home, as well as 22 cats.
Both suspects were taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center.
