Metro East animal rescue seeks help identifying injured dog

ILLINOIS -- A Metro East animal rescue is asking for help identifying a dog that was severely injured.

The rescue, Partners 4 Pets, said a Good Samaritan found the dog in a residential yard in Venice, Illinois. The Good Samaritan took the dog to the Madison County Animal Services where she underwent medical care.

The dog, named Trudy by the animal rescue, is believed to have suffered injuries consistent with being used as a “bait dog” in dog fighting.

Partners 4 Pets said T rudy’s injuries are located on her head, mouth and face. The bite wounds around her mouth are still open and severely infected. Trudy is in a lot of pain. They believe her mouth was intentionally taped shut, and she was possibly attacked by a larger animal.

Trudy's medical costs are estimated to be at least $1,000 a day.

The rescue is asking anyone who recognizes Trudy to call 618-540-7387.
