Kentucky: More than 100 animals rescued in hoarding case in LaRue County; Jane Embry charged with cruelty

KENTUCKY -- Dozens of dogs and cats need a new home, after their owner was arrested.

Investigators in LaRue County say Jane Embry is charged with animal cruelty and harboring a vicious animal.

Police think Embry started housing the animals, in an attempt to help them.

The LaRue County attorney tells WKYT so far, they have rescued more than 100 animals from the home.

Deputies say they first learned about Embry on Tuesday, when she applied for a kennel license.

When an animal control officer stopped by for an inspection, he found dozens of dogs and cats living under one roof.

"And she had real good intentions for doing what she was doing, but you just got to keep your mindset where you're not actually helping them, you're harming them," LaRue County Sheriff, Russell McCoy, said.

Investigators say most of the animals appear to be healthy.

Officials from five different shelters, including Jessamine and Laurel counties, were there to take in some of the animals.
