Norma J. Madden, 25, already on probation after stealing from Walmart, strangles and kills her kids' puppy

OHIO -- A Butler Twp. woman will get jail time after being convicted of animal cruelty.

Norma J. Madden, 25, was sentenced Thursday in Vandalia Municipal Court following an investigation by the Animal Resource Center.

Madden previously pleaded guilty to strangling and fatally beating her three-month-old Shih Tzu / Chihuahua puppy.

In a written police statement, Madden’s husband, Joey, said his two young children tied a belt around the dog’s neck and were dragging it around the house trying to “walk” it. When he saw they were hurting the puppy, he sent the older child to her room and spanked the 2-year-old on his behind, which was covered with a diaper. The spanking “enraged” his wife, he said.

Norma Madden picked up the dog and began choking it and threw the puppy against the wall, the report stated.

Joey Madden said he tried to intervene to save the puppy.

“She finally stopped but it was too late, the puppy was almost gone, then it died, and Norma laughed,” he said.

For some reason the District Attorney's office didn't charge Madden with a felony for the sadistic death she inflicted on this innocent puppy. They only charged her with a misdemeanor.

Additionally, at the time of this crime this ugly cow Madden was on a one-year probation for having stolen from Walmart. Most of the time when you commit another crime when you're on probation YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SPEND THE REMAINDER OF YOUR SENTENCE SITTING IN THE JAIL!!!

MONTGOMERY COUNTY OHIO DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE SUCKS!!!!

Her sentence includes 180 days in jail with 60 days suspended; a $500 fine; five years probation; an order not to own, keep or harbor any companion animals during probation; mental health counseling; an order to attend anger management; and to complete 40 hours community service.

The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center assisted Butler Twp. police in the investigation.

“No helpless animal should ever be subjected to such violence and cruelty and we are grateful for Judge Heck’s ruling,” said ARC Director Mark Kumpf. “I applaud the ARC staff and Butler Township Police for their incredible work on this extremely disturbing case.”
